Lake Wuliangsuhai sediment reveals impact of human activities on organic matter.
The researchers studied the organic matter in Lake Wuliangsuhai sediment. They looked at the composition of humus and factors affecting it. The organic matter content ranged from 1.06% to 5.38%. The distribution was influenced by water conditions, plants, and human activities. Humin was the main component, with levels between 3.28 and 20.92 g/kg. The pH was negatively correlated with humin, while dissolved oxygen was positively correlated with fulvic acids and humin. As organic matter increased, the relative humic substance content decreased. The degree of humification was low, with PQ values ranging from 9.50% to 27.06%.
