Different ways of growing rice seedlings were tested to see which method produced the best quality seedlings for mechanical transplanting. Dryland raised seedlings were found to be the best for growing strong seedlings and keeping them healthy for longer. Silt raised seedlings didn't grow as well as dryland raised ones, but they still worked okay. When raising seedlings for a long time before transplanting, it's better to use less fertilizer or none at all.
