Soil-cement mixtures show increased strength under varying pressure conditions.
The researchers studied the strength of soil-cement under different conditions. They found that the stress-strain curve of soil-cement softens with increasing pressure. Different stress paths have little impact on strength. Soil-cement behaves like over-consolidated soil at low pressure and slightly over-consolidated soil at high pressure. Residual strength increases with pressure, with CD test showing higher strength than CU test. The ratio of residual to peak strength also increases with pressure. The effective stress envelope of CU and CD tests is similar.
