Highway Construction Threatens Karst Wetland Ecosystems, Urgent Action Needed
The construction of highways, like the Guiyang Highway, can impact wetland environments like the Huixian Karst Wetland. By using remote sensing, researchers found that building highways can affect wetlands' ability to regulate climate, protect water resources, purify water, control floods and droughts, and maintain biodiversity. To protect wetland resources, control measures need to be implemented during highway construction.
