Revolutionizing Pulp Production: Corn Stalks Yield Stronger, More Efficient Paper!
The researchers studied different methods to make pulp from corn stalks. They found that cooking the stalks for 1 hour at 140°C with 14% alkali produced the best pulp yield and quality. Adding a small amount of AQ improved the pulp yield and reduced the kappa number. The kraft process also increased pulp yield by adjusting sulphidity and active alkali levels. AQ was more effective in low sulphidity kraft processes. Overall, the strength properties of pulp produced in the kraft process were better than those from the soda and soda-AQ processes.
