Elevation factor determines soil texture, impacting agricultural production and water movement.
The type of soil in flat areas can affect how well it holds water and nutrients. By studying soil profiles in Fengqiu County, researchers found that elevation plays a big role in determining soil texture. Soils at higher elevations tend to be sandy, while lower elevations have more clay. This is because of historical flooding, sediment deposition, and farming practices. The researchers used a special algorithm to identify nine different soil texture configurations, with loam and sand being the most common types. Overall, elevation is the main factor influencing soil texture in this area, with sandy soils found at higher elevations and clayey soils at lower elevations.
