The carbon isotope composition of plants in Western China was studied to see how it is affected by temperature and humidity. C3 plants, which are common in the region, have lighter isotopic values compared to C4 plants. The carbon isotope values of plants become lighter with more precipitation and heavier with higher temperatures. Overall, the carbon isotope composition in plants is influenced by multiple environmental factors, with precipitation and temperature during the growing season playing a significant role.
