A new method for treating leachate from garbage dumps has been discovered. By using special bioreactor landfills, the levels of harmful substances in the leachate can be reduced by up to 95% for COD and 98% for NH3-N. This means that bioreactor landfills are very effective at cleaning up the leachate from municipal solid waste, which can help reduce pollution and make the treatment process easier and cheaper.
