Beach erosion halted, tourism saved: successful beach nourishment in Jinmeng Bay.
The Jinmeng Bay beach in Qinhuangdao was eroding at a fast rate, affecting tourism. To fix this, they added a lot of sand and built underwater barriers. At first, some of the new sand washed away, but then the erosion slowed down. After fifteen months, most of the added sand was still there. This shows that beach nourishment can be successful in restoring eroded beaches.
