The study looked at how the structure of panicles and grains affects the yield of a new hybrid rice called Teyou 649. They found that panicles from lower nodes on the plant contribute the most to the yield, followed by secondary tillers and the main panicle. As fertilizer and planting density increased, the main panicle's contribution to the yield also increased.
