Legal separation process boosts linseed oil purity to 70% alpha-linolenic acid!
The researchers studied how to extract pure α-linolenic acid from linseed oil using β-cyclodextrin. They found that the best conditions for this process were a ratio of mixed fatty acid and ethanol to β-cyclodextrin of 1:7, an inclusion temperature of 59 ℃, an inclusion time of 2.7 hours, and a freezing time of 14.26 hours. Under these conditions, the α-linolenic acid content increased from 3.84% to 70.01%. This production process is cost-effective, simple, and has potential for industrial use.
