New Study Reveals Glass-Ceramics Strength Distribution for Improved Structural Reliability
The researchers tested the strength of IPS-Empress 2 glass-ceramics using a three-point flexural test. They found that the glass-ceramics had a Weibull value of 7.7 and different fractural probabilities at 1%, 5%, and 63.21%. This means that the strength of these ceramics follows a statistical distribution pattern and should not be solely relied upon for structural reliability. Weibull analysis can help in designing these ceramics for clinical use.
