Drought stress reduces maize growth and photosynthesis, impacting food production.
Drought stress affects plant growth and photosynthesis in maize seedlings. Two different maize hybrids were studied under varying levels of drought stress. The results showed that drought stress reduced plant growth and photosynthetic efficiency in both hybrids, but the effects were less severe in the drought-resistant hybrid. This suggests that the drought-resistant hybrid maintains better photosynthetic efficiency and growth under drought conditions compared to the drought-sensitive hybrid.
