Higher institutional ownership leads to worse stock market liquidity, study finds.
The study looked at how institutional investors affect the stock market in Shanghai in 2012. They used data analysis to see how different factors like ownership, market size, and type of stocks impact market fluidity. The results showed that when institutional investors own more stocks, the market is less fluid. Also, bigger companies and popular stocks tend to make the market more fluid, while less popular stocks make it less fluid.
