China's Regional Income Disparity Widens as Price Convergence Strengthens
The study looked at how different regions in China are getting closer or farther apart in terms of income and prices. They used data from 1978 to 2009 and found that there are four groups of regions where incomes are getting closer together, and three groups where prices are getting closer. Over time, income gaps between regions have been growing, then shrinking, and now growing again. However, price convergence is getting stronger.
