A study was done on improving the water quality of a group of urban lakes in China by diverting water from a nearby river. The researchers created a computer model to figure out the best way to divert the water. They considered things like pollutants in the sediment and the barriers in the lakes. After testing the model with real data, they found three different ways to divert the water that would help improve the water quality in the lakes.
