Completion of TGP boosts flood control in Yangtze River, but challenges remain.
The study looked at how flood control in the Jingjiang River and the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River changed before and after the completion of the Three Gorges Project (TGP). They found that the completion of TGP significantly improved flood control in the Jingjiang River. In the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, the flood control capacity improved after TGP, but there is still a large amount of excess floodwater that needs to be managed. The researchers suggest that additional measures should be taken to strengthen flood control in these areas.
