Larger leachate drainage pipes in landfills improve waste degradation and reduce pollution.
The size of the drainage pipeline in a landfill affects how well it operates. A study looked at landfills with different pipeline diameters and found that larger diameters led to less leachate, higher pH levels, and better quality of leachate. When the diameter ratio was at least 1:32, all organic waste was degraded completely. And when the ratio was 1:16, both organic waste and nitrogen compounds were efficiently reduced.
