Genetically modified rice shows stronger drought resistance than wild rice.
Genetically modified rice with OsCAS gene overexpression (777) shows better drought resistance than wild rice (WT) in the tillering stage. When exposed to severe drought stress, 777 maintained higher levels of antioxidant enzyme activity compared to WT. Additionally, 777 had lower levels of harmful substances like Pro and MDA under the same drought conditions. This suggests that 777 has a stronger ability to withstand drought stress, especially in more severe conditions.
