The researchers studied aquatic plants in the Henan section of the Huaihe River Basin. They found 51 different species of aquatic plants, with most being emergent or submerged. These plants formed 14 different communities, each influenced by factors like nutrients in the water. The key factors affecting plant distribution were levels of phosphorus, ammonia, and oxygen in the water.
