Sugarcane/soybean intercropping boosts crop yield and soil nutrients dramatically!
The study looked at how growing sugarcane and soybeans together affects weed population, soil nutrients, crop yield, and land use efficiency. Weeds were reduced under the sugarcane/soybean mix compared to sugarcane alone. Soil nutrients like nitrogen and phosphorus increased with intercropping. Sugarcane growth and yield were similar in both planting methods. The land equivalent ratio was higher for the intercropping, showing it has benefits for productivity.
