Sloping fields face accelerated erosion and sediment yield under heavy rainfall.
The study looked at how rainfall affects soil erosion on sloping fields. By simulating different rainfall intensities on red loam slopes, researchers found that both the amount of rain and the initial soil moisture impact when runoff starts. They also discovered that sediment yield increases faster than runoff yield, and that slope steepness has a bigger effect on sediment yield than on runoff.
