Sandy desertification and thicketization of grasslands are common in Inner Mongolia, China. A model for grazing system dynamics in drylands can be used to study this desertification. The researchers suggest a hypothesis on how thicketization happens in semiarid grasslands. They used temporal-spatial replacement to study sandy desertification. The study is important for understanding these processes in Inner Mongolia.
