Soil conservation measures reduce runoff and sediment, benefiting Chenggou Dam watershed.
The study looked at how soil and water conservation measures in Chenggou Dam system watershed helped reduce runoff and sediment. Using remote sensing images and GIS tools, researchers found that these measures led to a significant decrease in erosion and sediment yield. Over five years, the area with conservation measures increased, resulting in a 54.80% reduction in sediment. The erosion modulus in the watershed decreased by 5,581.20 tons per square kilometer annually. This shows that implementing soil and water conservation techniques can effectively reduce erosion and sediment in the area.
