Department stores slash energy use, boost sustainability with smart HVAC and lighting upgrades.
The energy consumption of a department store in Guangzhou was studied. The unit floor area energy consumption was found to be 3.921 GJ·m-2·a-1, with air conditioning accounting for 40% of total energy use. The air conditioning system and lighting were identified as areas for improvement to increase energy efficiency.
