Extraneous ethylene boosts Dunaliella salina growth and beta-carotene production significantly.
The researchers studied how adding ethylene to Dunaliella salina affected its growth and composition. They found that adding 0.05 mg/L of ethylene increased cell density and β-carotene production by 27.8% and 21.2% respectively compared to the control group. The levels of chlorophyll and total soluble proteins did not show significant differences between treatments.
