The article discusses the geologic conditions of a water diversion project transferring water from the Yangtze river to the Hanjiang river. The project aims to improve water supply for industry and agriculture, as well as enhance the ecological environment. The researchers analyzed the geologic engineering challenges of the canal design and provided suggestions for the route. The project is designed to transfer 9.3 billion cubic meters of water annually, connecting two major rivers and benefiting the downstream area of the Danjiangkou hydroproject.
