Revolutionizing maize growth: compost and fertilizer combo boosts yields in Gansu.
The study looked at how combining compost and chemical fertilizer affects maize growth and yield in an inland irrigation area. The researchers found that using a combination of compost and diammonium phosphate resulted in the highest light energy use efficiency in maize fields. Treatment 7, which included compost and diammonium phosphate, also led to the highest maize water use efficiency, economic yield, biological yield, and total economic benefit. The economic yield water use efficiency was 46.85 kg/mm, the biological yield water use efficiency was 85.72 kg/mm, the economic yield was 17,280.99 kg/hm2, the biological yield was 30,886.09 kg/hm2, and the total economic benefit was 35,922.5 yuan/hm2.
