The study looked at desertification in Turpan Oasis using satellite images. They found that wind erosion and salinization were the main types of desertification. Moderate wind erosion was the most common, covering 64.05% of the area. Some mild desertification areas improved, but others got worse. Severe desertification and salinization increased significantly. Desertification was reversed faster than it developed, but in later years, it sped up. This shows that efforts to stop desertification in some areas made it worse. Desertification is putting a lot of pressure on the local environment.
