Looming water crisis in China's Hexi Corridor as demand exceeds supply
The researchers analyzed water resources in the Hexi Corridor and found that the usage is much higher than what is available. The Shiyang, Heihe, and Shule River Basins are particularly overexploited, with usage exceeding available water by 149.1%, 93.8%, and 72.1% respectively. This leads to social and ecological problems. Proper management and redistribution of water resources are crucial to address these issues.
