Fertilizing winter wheat without boron reduces yield by 90.7%.
The study looked at what factors in the soil affect how much winter wheat can grow in Tangshan. They did experiments in the field to see how different fertilizers affected the wheat's yield. They found that not having enough boron in the fertilizer had the biggest impact on the wheat's weight and yield. Without boron, the weight of 1,000 wheat grains and the overall yield decreased significantly. Boron was the most important nutrient for winter wheat to grow well in the soil.
