This article discusses how a Manufacturing Execution System (MES) was developed and applied in an automobile-part manufacturing enterprise to improve workshop information management. The researchers analyzed the manufacturing process in discrete manufacturing enterprises to create a system structure for MES. They also researched the components and functions of the system, focusing on Web services technology. The key finding was the successful development and implementation of a real MES system based on J2EE technology.
