A new method was developed to improve how power systems manage reactive power using a mix of genetic and traditional optimization techniques. By combining these two approaches, the method can efficiently handle discrete variables and find optimal solutions quickly and reliably. Case studies have shown that this hybrid method is practical and effective for solving reactive power optimization problems.
