Beijing's Land Desertification Decreasing, But Long Road Ahead for Recovery.
Land desertification in Beijing is a serious problem that hinders the city's development. Using remote sensing technology, researchers studied the causes and trends of desertification in the piedmont plain area. They analyzed data from 2007 and found that areas near rivers like Yongding, Chaobai, and Dasha are most affected. The total desertification area decreased from 1999 to 2007, showing successful prevention efforts. However, some areas still face challenges in combating desertification.
