Cheaper, Greener Plastic Production Unlocked by Zinc Catalyst
In this study, scientists tested different substances to help break down a material called polyglycolic acid (PGA) into smaller parts more efficiently. They found that using a substance called Zn( acac)2 as a catalyst made the process work better. This substance helped reduce the temperature needed for the breakdown and increased the amount of valuable product obtained. By using Zn( acac)2, they could break down PGA into glycolide at a lower temperature with higher yields. The process became more efficient, and the substance prevented unwanted reactions, making the whole process better and faster.
