Massive Oil Reserves Discovered in Ordos Basin, Transforming Energy Landscape
The Chang 63 reservoir in the Huaqing area of the Ordos Basin was studied to understand its sedimentary facies. The researchers found that the reservoir is made up of delta front sublacustrine slump turbidite fan deposits, with inner, middle, and outer fan subfacies. The middle fan had the most developed distributary channel microfacies, covering 80% of the total fan area. This study helps predict where favorable sedimentary microfacies are located and provides insights into the sedimentation model of the area.
