Soil compaction and vegetation loss drastically reduce water flow on hillslopes.
Interflow is an important part of water runoff in purple soil on hillslopes. Different types of land affect how much interflow occurs, with undisturbed wastelands having more than bare cultivated lands. The amount of interflow increases with heavier rainfall, especially on undisturbed wastelands. Compacted soil and less vegetation reduce interflow on undisturbed wastelands.
