China is facing challenges due to rapid urbanization damaging historic landscapes. The current landscape planning system in China has low legal status and weak function. By looking at Germany's system, it is suggested that China should improve its landscape planning laws to create a new system that works alongside urban-rural planning. This new system would coordinate landscape planning and urban-rural planning at different levels, helping each other in sustainable development efforts.
