China's Industrial Energy Efficiency Surges, Unlocking Massive Conservation Potential
The study looked at energy efficiency in different industries in China from 1987 to 2005. Overall, energy efficiency improved in most sectors, but not consistently. Some industries had high efficiency but also high energy losses, while others had low efficiency and high losses. This shows there is still a lot of potential for energy conservation. The researchers used a method called DEA to analyze the data and found that there was no clear trend towards convergence in energy efficiency between industries.
