Climate change causing significant reduction in Yellow River basin evaporation.
The study looked at how evaporation in the Yellow River basin changed from 1956 to 2001 due to climate variations. They found that potential evapotranspiration and observed evaporation were closely related on a yearly and seasonal scale. Evaporation decreased from northeast to southwest and showed a significant reduction over time, especially in spring and summer. The main reason for this decrease was the lower wind speed in the area.
