Organic Acids Accelerate Soil Acidification More Than Acid Rain: Study
The study looked at how acid rain and organic acids affect soil pH and aluminum levels. They used a simulation to leach soil columns with different acids. The results showed that acid rain decreased pH and increased aluminum in the topsoil, while organic acids had a similar effect but were more potent at deeper soil levels. This suggests that organic acids may be a bigger threat to soil acidification than acid rain.
