Massive Coalbed Methane Reservoirs Discovered in Fuxin Basin, Fueling Energy Revolution.
The Wangying and Liujia coalbed methane reservoirs in the Fuxin Basin are rich in gas resources and formed from multiple thick coal seams. These reservoirs were created during the Paleogene period and adjusted during the Neogene to present times. The coal seams experienced maturation and generated coalbed methane in the Early Cretaceous. The second generation of coalbed methane occurred during the Himalayan Orogeny due to magma intrusion. The coal contains thermal genetic and secondary microbial genetic gases. The coalbed methane reservoirs in the Fuxin Formation are connected by dikes, enhancing coal adsorption capacity.
