Toxic pollutants threaten marine life in East Guangdong's Zhelin Bay.
The researchers studied the water quality in Zhelin Bay before building artificial fish reefs in Guangdong, China. They found that total petroleum hydrocarbons and lead were the main pollutants, exceeding sea water quality standards. Overall, the water quality at Qixingjiao Reef was good, while Huyu Islet had light pollution. There was no eutrophication or organic pollution in the stations.
