Unstable landslide in Dongping Reservoir threatens surrounding communities with collapse.
The researchers studied the Dagouwan landslide in Dongping Reservoir by analyzing its structure and mechanical properties. They used computer simulations to understand how the landslide behaved under different conditions and water levels. The results showed that as the water level rose, cracks appeared and a new landslide formed, leading to the failure of the entire slope. The main reasons for the landslide were the loose structure of the slope, frequent heavy rains, and changes in the water level of the reservoir.
