The study looked at how lack of water affects proteins in different types of maize plants. They found that as the plants experienced more water stress, the amount of soluble proteins decreased. New proteins were also produced in response to the stress. Interestingly, the drought-sensitive maize produced these proteins earlier than the drought-resistant maize.
