The research looked at how industrialization and urbanization are connected in Xinjiang. They used a model to measure how well these two processes are working together. The study found that industrialization and urbanization in Xinjiang were at a low level, with urban growth slower than industrial development. However, by the 21st century, both had improved significantly. The areas with the most balanced development shifted from the south to the mountainous regions. To keep growing, Xinjiang should learn from other parts of China and focus on new types of industrialization and urbanization.
