New Coagulants Boost Phosphorus Removal in Water, Improving Environmental Health.
Researchers tested different chemicals to see which one is best at removing trace amounts of phosphorus from water. They found that poly aluminum chloride (PAC) was the most effective, followed by poly ferric chloride (PFC) and poly aluminum-ferric chloride (PAFC). The best pH levels for removing phosphorus were 7.5 for PFC, 6.5 for PAC, and 6.0 for PAFC. Adding polyacrylamide (PAM) and permanganate composite chemicals (PPC) helped improve phosphorus removal, with the combination of both being the most effective.
