New Bridge Design Ensures Safety and Harmony with Environment
The San-Shan Bridge in Nanjing City is a self-anchored deck arch bridge designed to be in harmony with its surroundings. The researchers analyzed the superstructure and substructure of the bridge in detail, using a linear programming method for prestressed tendon designing. This method effectively ensured the bridge's stability and balanced horizontal forces. The study improved the adaptability and affordability of constructing arch bridges on soft foundations.
