The study analyzed the source of rocks in the Yingcheng Formation in the southern Songliao Basin. By looking at the minerals in the rocks, the researchers found that the source of the rocks changed over time. In the early stages, the rocks mainly came from the east, then shifted to the southeast, and finally moved to the west. Throughout the formation period, rocks from the north also contributed to the sediment.
