This paper looks at how nitrogen and phosphorus are removed from wastewater in free-water surface constructed wetlands. The main ways these compounds are removed are through denitrification and sedimentation into the soil. Different studies have shown variations in these processes, so more research is needed to understand them better. By studying these processes, we can create models to predict how well these wetlands will work in treating wastewater.
